We were down at Batman’s parents’ house for a few days and I went out to their back garden to pick some red currents. I adore red currents, I’m a fiend about berries especially sour ones, so they tick all the boxes.

These were especially perfect ones, they looked like beads and I alternated between wanting to pick each bunch carefully so they wouldn’t get crushed and grabbing huge handfuls so I could get as many as I could.

In the end I was prevented from stripping them completely off the bushes by the Welsh rain, but we had more than enough to have for lunch with yoghurt and raspberries from further down the garden.

Great photos – currants are so beautiful and glossy! I love putting them in sweet desserts so the sugar balances the berries tartness.
