I’m sure you’re all way ahead of me here, but I just found this neat little website called Library Elf. Ok, that’s a bit of a lie, I was at the library recently and checked out more books than I could carry, and noticed a little sign advertising it.

I was having a little tidy up, having just received a text from Batman telling me he was assisting the police on his way back from dance class (come on, keep up) when I came across the scene above. As my library books looked accusingly at me, I ventured a glance at the expiry dates and discovered that they were (surprise surprise) overdue.
So in a flurry of photocopying and loan renewal, I thought I’d check out this Elf business. It turns out you can register your library card(s) if they are one of the fairly vast looking array of libraries participating. Then you can be notified of your books’ due dates and whether or not your reservations have come it. You can get it by email or RSS (or both if you’re greedy) and it’s free.
Bargain.
I hope there is some way to make up the revenue, I would hate to have Andrew Carnegie’s good works come to nothing because of me.
And why was Batman assisting the police? I plan to join the local library again next year when we move (i get attached to books and end up buying them), i must check it to see what aussie librarys are on the list.
