Here are some photos from the party last weekend, you can see exactly how dark our house is and how I have to get crazy photos to compensate!
This is the UK food table, in the foreground you can see my first ever blancmange (rabbit shaped in the photo, but it slowly subsided into a less distinct shape throughout the afternoon) and the amazingly luminous cat (true to form, no one could bring themselves to eat the head).
The sweet side of the table had a massive chocolate cake and party rings (I love party rings). You can tell we’re grown ups, there are veggies on the table in two places! Note the bunting, of which more later…
This is the US room, we ended up with tortilla chips and salsa, peanut butter and jam sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats and some amazing dips.
All in all it was a really good day, no one cried (except my nephew when his brother bit him), there was a water fight outside, and we managed to play a mixed round of pass the parcel and hot potato without fisticuffs.
Oh, and have I mentioned the bunting? Our flat buddy (who moved to Manchester before we did) had made two lengths of fabulous bunting of which I am completely jealous (and have failed to return yet in the hope that she’ll forget about it). She’s promised Dragon pirate bunting if it’s a boy, and if it’s a girl, pirate bunting (she knows us so well).
