I love pointe shoes…I can’t tell you how much (unless you share my obsession and then I don’t need to).

Whenever I tell former dancers I still do a bit of pointe work, they invariably say ‘Oh, I can imagine going back to class, but never going back to pointe!’

I’m the opposite, I spent the first 13 years of my pointe career in absolute agony due to badly fitting shoes, and while I have feet which are not designed for pointe at all and can hardly be forced into a decent position at the best of times, the absence of blisters makes it worth the effort.

(Just to reassure you, I haven’t got rid of the shoes, just changed the horrible skinny elastic for comfortable wide stuff. It simplifies my life by not cutting the circulation off at the ankles…)
