I’m quite pleased by my latest commission, it’s the third one I’ve done for this family and it’s been fun to think of them as a set (although they’ve all been gifts).

It occurred to me as I was working that purple, green and white are the colours that the Suffragettes chose:

Purple as everyone knows is the royal colour. It stands for the royal blood that flows in the veins of every suffragette, the instinct of freedom and dignity; white stands for purity in private and public life; green is the colour of hope and the emblem of spring.

On the other (less historical) hand, it also reminds me of the icing flowers I used to get on my birthday cake!
